Notes
This coffee was the first coffee purchased from our friends at Hacea Coffee Source and man did it deliver. Its everything we want from a washed Honduras. Its a work horse, that can take the heat in the roaster and delivers a smooth, well-balanced, coffee that is traditional yet elevated. This is a familiar coffee that is easy to approach but clearly specialty grade.
Origin Notes
Joel Banegas is a fourth generation coffee farmer located near the town of Los Planes in the Comayagua Department of Honduras. Finca Mira Flores is located over 1400 meters above sea level where caturra and the IH90 varieties are grown and blended to create this washed lot with Fair Trade and Organic certifications. Joel Banegas is the operations and milling manager for the family in Honduras, and his son, Joel Banegas Jr., is continuing his father’s tradition with his own farm that he operates with his cousin Delmer at Finca el Conejo.
Joel Banegas’ cousin, Nelson Amador, started importing his family’s coffee to the United States in 2013 to promote transparent and direct connections between coffee growers and coffee roasters. After meeting some time ago, Hacea Coffee Source is proud to have partnered with Nelson Amador to offer his Family’s coffee on the West Coast.
